Olympiad Ranking & Grading System

The Olympiad Ranking of the students is a mathematical analysis of their academic scores compared to the scores of other students. The Ranking for Olympiad exams is determined considering the scores of both rounds.

The scores are converted into ranks. The Olympiad Ranking criteria are well described by the National Talent Olympiad. The student is eligible to perceive rank when he/she fits into the ranking criteria.

There are amazing prizes for the first 4 rank holders. The ranking is determined by the grading system.

CRITERIA FOR QUALIFICATION FOR SCHOOL THROUGH REGISTERED OFFLINE EXAM

Students who meet one of the two requirements below will be eligible for winning National Ranks.

  • Class-wise for top 20% of students', due priority to marks scored in exam will be given.
  • If in case of tie the following criteria will be checked -
    1. Student's grade/percentage in previous class
    2. Number of correct and wrong answers
    3. Negative marks for wrong answers
    4. Neatness marks can be added
    5. Class Topper: At least 10 students from a class appear in the exam, & scores at least 50% marks.

If two or more students receive the same grade in any of the following categories, the grades assigned to the questions with internal marking ratios will be added together. If two or more students receive identical scores across all sections, they will be given the same rank and the scholarship money will be divided among them.

THE SCIENCE OLYMPIAD SYLLABUS

The syllabus for the Olympiad exams aligns closely with the existing school curriculum, providing a valuable supplement to students' regular studies. These competitive exams serve as additional practice, helping students reinforce their understanding and prepare more effectively for upcoming school tests. By participating in the National Talent Olympiad, students gain a deeper grasp of scientific concepts in a practical, engaging manner.

The National Talent Science Olympiad (NTSO) is open to students from Class 1 to Class 10, offering tailored content for each grade level. For younger students, such as those in Class 1, the syllabus covers fundamental science topics like plants, animals, good habits, the Earth, the sky, and transportation. This approach introduces them to basic scientific principles in a way that is both accessible and enjoyable.

RANKING TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR OFFLINE EXAMS

  • The queries related to Question Papers, OMR Answer sheet re-checking & marks re-evaluation will be entertained within only 20 days after the result is declared. National Talent Olympiad will not entertain any such queries after the same.
  • National Talent Olympiad will discard the previous rounds of OMR answer sheets after one month since the result is declared according to the company policies. If the OMR answer sheets' soft copy is required, school has to request the same within 20 days of the result is declared.
NOTE:
  • Re-checking / Re-evaluation process is chargeable i.e. Rs. 500/- (per subject-per OMR). (For First Round only)*
  • Providing OMR answer sheet soft copy, re-checking & re-evaluation is allowed for the first round only.
  • Since in the 2nd Round only a few thousand students are selected, their OMR Answer sheets are scanned in OMR Machine twice to eliminate any possibility of an error. For the same reason, the answer sheets will not be scanned again for re-checking or re-evaluation purposes nor the soft copy will be provided for the same. Any queries regarding the same will not be entertained.

CRITERIA FOR QUALIFICATION FOR STUDENTS - ONLINE EXAM EVALUATION CRITERIA

  • Marks scored in Sections in the exam accorded higher priority.
  • Time taken to complete the exam will accord higher priority.
  • If the situation demands, negative marking (0.25) will be there as a tie-breaker.
  • For Tough Ties, ITO has provided some questions internal marking ratio. In a very close call, the same ratio will be applicable in evaluation.
  • At any point in time, ITO is not liable to provide anyone internal marking details. It is a confidential evaluation process.
  • Only Ranks will be shown in the Results, as percentage/Pass OR Fail is not applicable
  • In case two or more students score the same marks under all the categories above, they will be awarded the same rank & the scholarship amount will be shared among students.

RANKING TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR ONLINE EXAM

  • After completion of the exam, results will be announced with the percentage secured (only for Round 1). Since, marks/scores are evaluated automatically by the system, no revaluation is done for online exam..
  • Only final ranks will be shown in the result (Round 2).
  • In case two or more students score the same marks under all the categories above, they will be awarded the same rank & the scholarship amount will be shared among students.
IMPORTANT TERMS REGARDING NATIONAL RANKS:
  • According to the National Talent Olympiad Policies, National Rank 1 & National Rank 2 winners' scholarship amounts are divided into certain years. The divided scholarship amount will be provided to the scholarship winner till the limit of the scholarship amount's extent.
  • The National Scholarship is aimed to provide Educational Benefits to extraordinary performing students. For the same reason, the National Talent Management has set policies to split the National Rank Scholarships in certain years.
